  1. Good Seat but Want More… - "Mid career / early thirties. Did a fairly traditional IB > MF PE > MBA and then ended up in a good HF seat (think top SM type shop). Make a good salary / bonus around $1m. I look out and see my comp relatively rangebound in the $600k > $1.5m for the next couple of years until they decide not to make me PM (appears nearly impossible due to number of analysts competing for same slots). I envy friends that have pursued entrepreneurial paths and wish I had the balls to jump to do something in fields I am more interesting in (sports, fitness etc.)"

  2. Panic Attacks This Week - "You are not alone. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. The first thing you need to do is get your confidence back. You did not make it to this point by pure luck. You are highly talented, hard working investment professional, willing to put the work in and learn from his mistakes. If you make a comeback, it will be an epic success story. If you blow out, you will get a few months off to take a step back, stop trading, enjoy your personal life in a way you might not get the chance to otherwise for several years and do a deep dive to learn how to manage differently in the future. In that downside case, you will certainly be picked up by another pod shop and offered the opportunity to manage risk again..."

  3. Would You Work for Your Dad? - "I went to work on my own/at a different company; meanwhile, my twin went to work for my Dad. Although I am doing very well (early promotions/yearly raises), nothing beats nepotism. He has been handed basically exactly what he wants every time he asks (whether it comes to location, pay, promotions, etc.). If I were you, I would take the advantage you have. Don't let other jealous people try to prevent you from experiencing your blessings in life!"

  4. To Any Students Who Don’t Actually Like Finance/Consulting but Just Want to Make 6 Figures - "I was talking to some rising seniors who hated their IB internships. I definitely recommend IB/PE roles for people who can stick it out - I did PE for 5 years, but burn out is high in this industry and a lot of these jobs are tough even if you love it. If you hate it, it's HARD. If you're interested in entrepreneurship and you're just looking to make good money and gain experience in a fast paced environment with outsized responsibility, I'd recommend checking it out. New roles are posted all the time..."
